2021 • 12 42 A bout 50 locations in three districts in Malacca were hit by flash floods following incessant downpours since October 20, 2021 noon. The affected people were housed in 15 temporary relief centres, while some took shelter at their relatives’ or friends’ homes. On October 21 early morning, Tzu Chi volunteers set out to survey the damage. They found that the muddy waters came fast but receded slowly, rendering roads inaccessible. There were cars that broke down and rubbish floating on knee-high floodwaters. The affected shop owners could only sigh at the sight of their flooded shops. On that same day, volunteers were mobilized to deliver food to the flood victims. After distributing breads to affected residents around Taman Bukit Beruang Utama in the morning, volunteers returned around noon to distribute 85 packs of hot vegetarian meals.
