All 62 passengers and crew aboard the Boeing 737 plane were reportedly Indonesians. Upon learning of the news, Tzu Chi Indonesia volunteers immediately initiated caregiving efforts. On January 10 afternoon, seven volunteers brought face masks, face shields, hand sanitizers, bottled water, medications, cajeput oil and vitamins to the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta. They offered care and company to the families of the passengers and crew members who were awaiting the search-and-rescue news. Indonesia 10.01.2021 Caring for Families of Air Crash Passengers Serbia is one of the poorest countries in Europe. However, due to its political and geographical factors, it becomes “home” to many refugees. In September 2020, the Serbian Refugee Council mailed a request for help from Tzu Chi. Following that, the local volunteers went to the refugee camps and presented 12,000 eco-blankets for the refugees and 298 winter boots for the Refugee Council members. In the cold weather, a pair of good quality, winter-proof and slip-resistant boots will help to ensure the safety of the Refugee Council members at work. Amidst the pandemic and chilly winter, the local volunteers are only more determined to fulfil their mission and keep sending love irrespective of nationality.
