2019 • 07 34 ocal News Tzu Chi Malacca continued its annual tradition of organizing rice dumpling charity sales during the Dumpling Festival season for the 15th consecutive year. Since May 15, 2019, more than 30 volunteers have gathered daily to prepare Nyonya-style rice dumplings, culminating in 16,500 rice dumplings produced over 10 days. All profits from the charity sale will be channelled to Tzu Chi Malacca’s development fund and building fund. On the other hand, a group of volunteers from Tzu Chi Ulu Tiram also prepared a total of 1,625 five-spice savoury rice dumplings and Nyonya-style rice dumplings on May 28 and June 1, 2019, with the proceeds collected contributing towards funding the construction of the Muar Tzu-Chi Jing Si Hall. Malacca / Ulu Tiram 2019.05.15 – 06.01 Tzu Chi volunteers jointly organized a ceremony with the Kuala Langat Residents’ Representative Council Zone 19 and the Bukit Jelutong Residents’ Association to officiate the inauguration of the Bukit Jelutong Recycling Education Centre. The Recycling Education Centre started as a recycling point established in October 2009, before being restructured into a recycling centre in February 2013 on freehold land granted by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA). The recycling centre has now been upgraded to its current designation as a recycling education centre. At the ceremony, the Selangor StateAssemblyman for KotaAnggerik, YBTuanMohd Najwan bin Halimi expressed his appreciation for the collaborative efforts between the local government and Tzu Chi in creating a conducive living environment for the local community. He also hoped that the Recycling Education Centre would adopt a proactive role in disseminating knowledge on environmental conservation to the public.
