11 Standing Strong Together COVID-19 Relief Recognising the Tzu Chi’s Model Haematologist Dr. Ong Tee Chuan was reassigned to treat COVID-19 patients during the pandemic. As the liaison between Ampang Hospital and Tzu Chi, he valued Tzu Chi’s continuous communication and commitment in prioritising life over costs by providing the most effective medical equipment. He noted three key features of what he referred to as the “Tzu Chi’s Model”: 1) Tzu Chi demonstrated remarkable efficiency; 2) Tzu Chi had a clear understanding of the hospital’s needs and allocated funds to the most critical areas; 3) Tzu Chi prioritised life above all else.
