10 Amidst Malaysia’s nationwide Movement Control Orders, Tzu Chi KL & Selangor volunteers swiftly sprang into action to produce and distribute essential supplies such as face shields, boot covers, and isolation gowns to support frontline medical personnel. They also assisted in setting up isolation centres, and delivered beds, medical supplies and equipment. Motivated by love and compassion, they soldiered on despite the rising intensity and anxiety of the pandemic. When medical facilities became overwhelmed, Tzu Chi joined forces in a fundraising exercise with 18 other faith-based organisations in 2021. The “Malaysia Solidarity COVID-19 Fund” facilitated the purchase and donation of medical equipment and supplies in excess of RM27 million. With donations from the generous public, Tzu Chi launched relief programmes to provide food and financial assistance to fellow Malaysians severely affected by the economic downturn. Even as life gradually returns to normalcy, Tzu Chi’s love and care persist.
