21 Myanmar TZU CHI 154 USA On March 28 and 29, a Tzu Chi delegation attended the “Colloquium on Intercultural Spiritual Care for Culturally Chinese Populations” at Harvard Divinity School (HDS) in partnership with the HDS Buddhist Ministry Initiative. Focused on compassion, altruism, and spiritual healing, the colloquium allowed participants to engage in fruitful discussions on the application of spiritual care in diverse circumstances. • A powerful earthquake struck Sagaing Region at 12.50 p.m. on March 28. Mandalay, Myanmar’s second-largest city, was near the epicentre and sustained severe damage. The disaster claimed over 3,600 lives, injured 4,800 people, and displaced nearly 200,000. • Fundraising campaigns were launched across 22 countries and regions to aid survivors. • Responding to a call from the United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD), Tzu Chi KL & Selangor provided relief supplies. More than 50 metric tonnes of aid, including Tzu Chi folding beds, medical masks, and gloves were despatched from the UNHRD hub in Kuala Lumpur to Myanmar on April 14 and 15. • As of April 20, Tzu Chi had distributed 1,460 folding beds, 10,620 bottles of water, 16,500 bottles of electrolyte drinks, 439 straw mats, 74 mosquito nets, 840 solar lamps, as well as food, medical and hygiene supplies. Cash-for-work programmes were also launched to construct temporary shelters at 17 locations for monks, affected families, and firefighters. Charity Education
