20 2025 • 06 Spain In October 2024, severe flooding devastated five towns in Valencia Province. After initial assessments in January 2025, European Tzu Chi volunteers conducted follow-ups from mid-March to April in the hardest-hit areas. The volunteers also coordinated relief distribution with government agencies, to provide urgent financial aid to affected households. • On March 12, Cyclone Jude triggered widespread flooding in southern Malawi, affecting 11 districts, impacting over 21,000 people and leaving 10,000 homeless. • Volunteers conducted assessments across 20 villages in the Blantyre District from March 13 to 19, later expanding their assessments to 28 shelters in nine additional hard-hit areas from March 30 to April 1. Food packages containing corn flour, beans, and porridge were prepared for distribution, along with mosquito nets and water purification tablets to prevent the spread of diseases. Malawi Cyclone Jude swept into Nampula Province on March 10, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds. Tzu Chi volunteers conducted disaster assessments from March 20 to April 2. Food distributions began on April 17, with plans to support 7,013 households. Each package included 36 kilogrammes of corn flour, beans, peanuts, and salt, supplemented by rice, beans, and cooking oil from the World Food Programme.
