The world of Tzu Chi December 2023 (Vol.148)
TZU CHI 148 29 Besides a well-trained medical workforce, having adequate infrastructure is crucial in delivering comprehensive care for patients. On November 9, 2023, Tzu Chi handed over an ultrasound machine to the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh, Pahang, in response to the hospital’s needs. The hospital director, Dr. Nor Azlina expressed, “Temerloh Hospital is the second largest hospital in Pahang, serving patients from various towns in the central region. The hospital is already 18 years old, and most of the medical assets have a lifespan of about ten years. Sometimes, this affects patients’ services. With this ultrasound machine, we can provide better service where early diagnosis can be made.” This compassionate donation will empower the hospital’s commitment to safeguard lives. The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) strongly advocates for the implementation of green architectural designs, aiming for the city to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. On August 30, 2023, the DBKL held its inaugural Special Award Presentation Ceremony in Bangsar South. Mayor Datuk Kamarulzaman personally presented the Special Award for Universal Design Building to Tzu Chi representatives, to commend TCISKL for its barrier-free, convenient, and safe learning environment. Additionally, KL Tzu-Chi Jing Si Hall, which incorporates features like rainwater harvesting system, was honoured with the Green Building Gold Award. From recycling initiatives to green architectural designs, Tzu Chi’s commitment to environmental conservation is evident.
