The world of Tzu Chi Apr-Jun 2023 (Vol.146)

2023 • 06 26 In celebration of Tzu Chi’s 57th Anniversary, a bowing pilgrimage took place at the KL Tzu-Chi Jing Si Hall on April 23 and May 1, 2023. Over the two days, about 3,600 volunteers and public members participated in the event. Following the recitation of “The Incense Praise” and “Verses in Praise of the Buddha”, the procession of pilgrims advanced with each step guided by the sound of a hand-bell. With the resonant chant of “Namo Shakyamuni Buddha”, every participant humbly prostrated themselves every three steps, embracing the purifying essence of the Dharma to purify their minds. Just as the pilgrims steadily moved forward with each step, we too must have a clear and precise direction in our lives, and remain steadfast on the Bodhisattva Path. On February 6, 2023, a powerful earthquake struck the southern region of Türkiye near the Syrian border, resulting in the collapse of numerous buildings and a significant number of casualties. Tzu Chi KL & Selangor launched the “Send Love to Türkiye” fundraising campaign from February 18 to 28 to provide support to the survivors. In addition to organising charity sales, volunteers visited markets, shopping malls, schools, parks, recycling points, flats, and even stood outside a mosque, to collect shares of kindness from the public. In total, 644 street fundraising events were held in the KL and Selangor regions, with over 5,500 participants taking to the streets to raise funds for the earthquake survivors, giving them the strength to rebuild their homes.
