The world of Tzu Chi Sep-Oct 2022 (Vol.143)

TZU CHI 143 43 After following See Chim (2nd from right) to do charity home visits for years, Tan Yoke Teng (1st from right) learned from experience and is now able to lead others to carry out charity work. [Photo by Hong Geok Hui] they have been taking on more responsibilities. Tan Meow Hong, a senior volunteer who has been with See Chim every step of the way, praised, “I admire her willpower. She moves mountains. No negative comments; only a single mind trying to overcome obstacles. Just do it with pure intention. She has also inspired many other new volunteers.” See Chim humbly shared that she was not highly educated, and was unskilled. She is also computer illiterate and has no means of transport. Meow Hong, Yoke Teng and Mi Dee have all offered her rides. It is all thanks to the teamwork and support that she is able to commit to learning and taking up responsibilities in Tzu Chi at ease. She is unsure about her recovery from cancer this time. Nevertheless, she makes sure she seizes the present. She explained to her family, “I choose to do Tzu Chi work. If anything happens, it has nothing to do with Tzu Chi. It is on me. Be rest assured.” She is always thinking of others and Tzu Chi, just like her attitude towards others and her dedication to Tzu Chi. “Learn Buddhism and the law of karma. Fulfil our duties with a simple mind and pure intention, and have no regrets. I believe I am on the right path, walking the Tzu Chi and Bodhisattva Path. The strength of one is weak. We need a collective effort, gathering living bodhisattvas to purify human minds, create a peaceful society and a world free of disasters,” See Chim concluded.
