2022 • 10 28 ocal News Translated by the Tzu Chi Translating Team Tzu Chi held a media conference on July 26, to introduce the “Healthier Me 21-Day Challenge” programme to a wider public. Launched about two years ago, the programme has enrolled over 10,000 participants and witnessed health improvements in many participants following a change to a whole food plant- based diet for 21 days in a row. Malaysian radio DJ Chan Fong has also participated in the programme in August. He expressed, “Through this programme, I have lost 3.5 kg of my body weight. My blood test report has shown improvements in my blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar indexes. I highly recommend everyone to try out this challenge!” Believing that the environment affects mental health of patients, Dr. Hezron from the Psychiatry and Mental Health Department of Selayang Hospital approached Tzu Chi for a joint effort in cleaning up the home of a patient suffering from mental illness. At volunteer Lee Ah Poh’s invitation, Wang Jun Hong, a beneficiary of Tzu Chi’s “Kita1Keluarga” relief programme, readily joined the volunteers for the good cause. Besides cleaning and washing, volunteers also helped trim the trees in the yard. It is hoped that the clean surrounding with neatly trimmed trees can help improve the patient’s mental health.
