The world of Tzu Chi July-August 2022 (Vol.142)
TZU CHI 142 31 Living in an era where people are constantly pursuing the latest products andmanufacturers are constantly introducing new products to stimulate sales, waste is often created without us realizing it. To help slow down the consumption of Earth’s resources, Tzu Chi Malacca organized pre-loved markets at various Tzu Chi recycling centres, so that one’s pre-loved items, like pot and pans, electrical appliances, books and clothing that were no longer in use, could become useful items for those who needed them. With the same mission, Tzu Chi Tampin held an eco-bazaar at the Tzu Chi Recycling-cum- Education Centre in Tampin New Village on the day of its opening (June 26), adding more significance to the occasion. In conjunction with the 30th Anniversary of the Tzu Chi Collegiate Youth (Tzu Ching) Association, Tzu Ching members in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor regions organized a series of activities, including a beach cleaning activity along Pantai Kelanang and a plogging event in Kota Kemuning, where the youths picked up rubbish while jogging. A Tzu Ching member, Fah Le Ji, explained that environmental protection is not as simple as picking up rubbish, but integrating the good habits, like saving water, electricity and paper, into daily life. Only when we make resource conservation and recycling a part of our daily life, can we be truly environmentally friendly.
