The world of Tzu Chi July-August 2022 (Vol.142)
2022 • 08 30 ocal News While visiting a Somali refugee community learning centre in Setapak to promote environmental protection, Tzu Chi volunteers also brought the students second- hand computers to improve their learning conditions and enable them to keep up with the times and connect with the world. Adbirahman, a teacher at the refugee learning centre, said that he understood that the volunteers were trying to help prepare the refugee children for the challenges ahead in this age of intelligence. The volunteers also taught the children to use computer software to ensure that the second-hand computers are used to their fullest potential in improving the education level of the refugee children. Tzu Chi Kota Kinabalu held a charity sale to raise funds for the Tzu Chi Alternative Learning Centre in Kota Kinabalu, thereby giving the stateless children equal opportunities to education. In view of the pandemic situation, the volunteers took proper precautions and accepted online orders besides on-site purchases. A public member, Wong Nyet Song, was exceptionally happy for the opportunity to support a charity sale again along with her family. The bazaar successfully raised RM36,000 for the Learning Centre. Hopefully, the kindness and contributions from everyone can be like rain and dew for the grass, enabling the Learning Centre to bloom into a beautiful garden.
