What could be more reinvigorating and calming than to learn Dharma, share insights and enjoy vegetarian food in a natural setting, be it a park, a vegetable farm, by the lake, or a quiet corner. S prawled on the open field of Putra Heights, Dharma members started searching for stones. Volunteer Joe Yeoh had designed this activity based on a story by Master Cheng Yen in her commentaries on the Lotus Sutra , where Socrates asked his students to pick fruits, to convey the message that “there is no second chance in life”. Instead of fruits, the members had to look for the roundest stone and no change was allowed once they had selected the stone. Then, half way through the search, the group members were asked to present their stones to other members who had yet to pick up a stone. Khoo Kim Tong was emotional during the activity and shared, “Master said we live only once. I have been experiencing ups and downs in my life and career, and now that I have entered old age, it is very difficult for me to keep up with Master’s footsteps; I am far behind…” Everyone encouraged him to
