2022 • 06 32 ocal News On April 21, 2022, a day before World Earth Day, Tzu Chi Seremban recycling team called out to volunteers to go to the night markets at Taman Bukit Blossom and Bukit Galena to promote plastic reduction. Holding posters in their hands, the volunteers explained the current crisis of global warming to people at the night market, and encouraged them to start a low-carbon and energy- and water- saving lifestyle, as well as to practise the 5R’s of sustainable consumption. The volunteers also produced 316 eco-friendly cloth bags to give away. Those who received the cloth bags expressed happily that the bags will serve as a reminder for them to protect the environment and love Mother Earth. The Covid-19 vaccination centre set up by Tzu Chi Kota Kinabalu in Likas started operating officially on February 26, 2022. Medical personnel were on duty to administer vaccines to the public from Tuesday to Sunday. The previous experiences serving at other vaccination centres in 2021 came in handy for the volunteers. Iri Nabihan, who came to get vaccinated together with her husband and friends, commended that the environment at Tzu Chi vaccination centre was good and not crowded, and the workers were all very friendly. The vaccination centre completed its mission successfully on April 3, with a total of 3,491 doses of vaccines administered.
