[Photo by Lim Chin Shein] Purifying and renewing oneself Volunteer Choong Kah Meng was delighted to see so many familiar faces once again.As he chanted, thoughts of disasters that occurred in recent years flashed past. Some fellow volunteers and family members also faced impermanence or illnesses. He prayed for all to cultivate diligently to accumulate good karma and for Master to stay healthy so that the Jing Si Dharma lineage could carry on and on. Like all others, volunteer Yap Kong Ming was overwhelmed with happiness on returning home to the Jing Si Hall. He prayed for the wellbeing of Master and all beings in suffering. He and his wife have been rising at 3 a.m. daily to join the online Dharma session on the Lotus Sutra . To them, a deeper understanding of the sutra is mind cleansing and their greatest motivation to cultivate diligently on the Tzu Chi path. As he knelt down singing “The Vow” at the end of the anniversary chanting-cum- prayer session, memories of him being commissioned by the Master came flashing back.
