The world of Tzu Chi May-June 2022 (Vol.141)

19 TZU CHI 141 About a thousand volunteers returned to their spiritual home on April 24, 2022 (24th day of the third lunar month) for Master Cheng Yen’s birthday and Tzu Chi’s 56th Anniversary. During the pandemic, Lay Hoon would never miss the monthly Dharma group study. Her sharing of experiences at one of the online sharing sessions touched the hearts of the audience. Two volunteers vowed to donate to become Tzu Chi Honorary Board Members*, while a few others vowed to observe 108 vegetarian meals. Lay Hoon herself had donated to be an Honorary Board Member after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013. More recently, she intends to sell a house to make another donation for the Honorary Board Member. Although she is not able to see Master in Taiwan, she wishes to assure Master that she will be her true follower. Another participant, Wong Yee Ning, was grateful for the opportunity to bring her mother along for the sutra chanting session. She shared, “Chanting this Medicine Buddha Sutra is beneficial for the sick and ill-fated. My mother has some issues with her legs, so I want to take her to recite this sutra, to relieve her suffering.” Both mother and daughter chanted sincerely, focusing on every word, so as to bring blessings to all.
