17 TZU CHI 141 Muar Kota Kinabalu Besides holding the Buddha bathing ceremony atTzu Chi Muar premises, community centres, recycling centres and points, the volunteers also organized mobile Buddha bathing ceremonies at community welfare centres, wet markets and hawker centres to enable more people to douse in the Dharma joy. The unique Buddha bathing platform and a Jing Si Abode model on a tricycle attracted many people to come forward and pay homage to Buddha. On the morning of May 8, Venerable Master Quan Ping from Mettiyarama Centre, Kota Kinabalu, led more than 100 Tzu Chi volunteers to pay homage to Buddha. With deep reverence, the team made offerings of lights, fragrant water and flowers while the rest of the participants clasped their palms together and observed the ceremony. Following this, the volunteers performed the Buddha bathing ritual in an orderly manner, guided by the emcee’s instructions. More than 400 volunteers and public members participated in the ceremony that day. Bathing the Buddha: ACleansing Within [Photo by Low Chung Chin] [Photo by Liew Zing Yi]
