The world of Tzu Chi March-April 2022 (Vol.140)

TZU CHI 140 15 When she listened to Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza perform the Malay version of the Tzu Chi song, “We Are Family”, she could not control her tears. To her, anyone can help others in need as long as they have the capacity. The world functions by helping one another, regardless of skin colour, religion or nationality. As the reopening of school drew near, Tzu Chi had also subsidized her five school- going children with a RM150 allowance per person. This was a huge relief for her. Meanwhile, her eldest son has already started his internship, and would be able to help with the family expenses in the near future. That day, I shared a Jing Si aphorism with her—“Giving is not the privilege of the rich, it is the privilege of the sincere.” Tzu Chi’s funds have always come from the caring donations of kind individuals. Upon hearing this, Rosnaidah immediately signed up to be a monthly donor. She hopes that she could one day become a volunteer to help others. Not only that, she has also encouraged her children to save their pocket money in the coin bank. She knows how to count her blessings, cherish them, and sow more blessings. After leaving Rosnaidah’s home, I could not help seeing her as a truly rich human being. The generosity of her heart is inspirational. Even in their darkest moments, the couple was still able to spare a thought for the flood victims. Through their gentle acts of compassion, they have taught their children to stay positive. Together, they know deep in their hearts that the fog would soon clear and once again, they would see blue skies. I salute their hope and faith, and I give them my blessings. Volunteer Teong Cheng Yee presented Master Cheng Yen’s letter and a cash card to Rosnaidah. The timely help from Tzu Chi touched the couple’s heart.
