The world of Tzu Chi March-April 2022 (Vol.140)
TZU CHI 140 11 When Eng Foo saw the very simple dinner the family had, he just could not believe his eyes. It was a plate of simple fried vegetables, some curry gravy, and a bowl of curry chicken. The children sat on the floor, waiting for their eldest sibling to distribute the food to them. Furniture is limited, so the young ones are used to having their meals on the floor. “Frankly speaking, I simply cannot imagine how he could manage to go on in such a living condition and with so many children. I am also a father of four, and that already is no simple task. Sivakumar has to provide for eight children! However, when I talked to him, I could feel his love for his children. Whether for meals or education, regardless of any difficulty, he ensures his children are comfortable. He works so hard. I salute him for his unwavering love,” said Eng Foo. Sivakumar has demonstrated that a father’s love is immeasurable, like the immovable mountain. He is an inspiration to volunteers and when he needs help, they would extend their helping hands along with generous doses of kindness and love. To Sivakumar and his family, it was more than a blessing. Sivakumar’s family of ten live in a wooden house made out of a container. Though simple, it allows them to stay together under one roof.
