TZU CHI 139 07 over 210 areas. When the floodwater surged and damaged houses, some of the victims were left helplessly trapped, screaming for assistance. On December 19, the rain finally stopped but the floodwater had not receded. For some locations unreachable by cars, Tzu Chi volunteers worked together with the Malaysian Armed Forces, using military vehicles to deliver supplies and hot meals to flood victims. Starting from December 24, Tzu Chi gathered public members, mobilizing 6,605 volunteer-shifts in three consecutive days to do a large-scale clean up at the worst hit areas in Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam, and Taman Sri Nanding, Hulu Langat. Following that, Tzu Chi volunteers ran 2,500 work shifts to flood-stricken areas in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Pahang, to compile list of flood victims and extend care to each affected family. To date, the flood has claimed 54 people deaths, with 2 people reported to be missing. To help alleviate the burden of the people, the Government announced to distribute RM10,000 natural disaster relief funds to each eligible household.
