TZU CHI 138 45 Continued Effort to Help Achieve Herd Immunity Local News At the invitation of Malacca Central Health Department, Malacca Tzu- Chi Jing Si Hall became one of the vaccination centres to help accelerate administration of booster shots. The vaccination centre was officially opened on November 10, 2021, and was manned by some 60 volunteers, who were in charge of traffic and crowd control, disinfection, logistics, as well as ensuring a smooth flow from station to station, and adherence to pandemic prevention SOPs. Seventy-four-year old Haji Abdul Latif bin Mahmud, who set foot in the Jing Si Hall for the first time, praised that the vaccination centre was top-class. “It is very clean, and the service is excellent. With approval from the Ministry of Health, KL Tzu-Chi Free Clinic started to administer vaccines for refugees every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday commencing September 21, 2021. As of November 19, the team has administered 1,167 doses of vaccines for refugees. Dr. Foo Seay Liang, Head of the Free Clinic, explained that from a humanitarian standpoint and to protect Malaysian citizens, refugees must also be vaccinated. The Free Clinic will also administer booster shots for Malaysian citizens commencing November 29, keeping up its best efforts to help achieve herd immunity.
