2021 • 08 42 Foldable Beds to Kepayan Prison Due to the pandemic, some welfare institutions are short of donations, while many families are struggling financially. On June 24, Tzu Chi Malacca delivered fruits donated by a public member to about 500 residents at six welfare institutions, including orphanages, nursing homes, homes for the disabled and homeless shelters. Upon learning of three institutions in shortage of food and daily supplies, the volunteers returned on June 26 with the required stock worth RM1,000. In addition, they also visited 15 needy families on June 26 and 27 to bring them daily necessities and care. During this period, all prison staff were required to remain within the premises. Therefore, Tzu Chi loaned out 459 Jing-Si multipurpose foldable beds to be used, along with the provision of mattresses. Sabah Prison Director, Nora said, “Before this, we either slept on the lawn, in cars, the hall or the office.
