2021 • 05 46 ocal News Translated by Jilly Bong Exploring Earth’s Sustainability through the Lens of Climate Change Dalin Tzu Chi Hospital and Tzu Chi Penang renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for another five years through a video-conference on April 20, 2021. Lai Ning-sheng, Superintendent of Dalin Tzu Chi Hospital, and Koay Ji- yuan, CEO of Tzu Chi Penang, signed the MoU on behalf of both parties respectively. The event was witnessed by Lin Chin- lon, CEO of Tzu Chi Medical Mission, other Taiwanese representatives and Tzu Chi volunteers across Malaysia. This is a continuation of the first MoU signed in November 2016, which has proved to be fruitful over the past five years, in terms of resource sharing and mutual learning, especially in the areas of eco-friendly setting, emergency, hospice and palliative care, community medical and dialysis services. Through exhibitions, a vegetarian food bazaar, fun and inspiring games, informative talks, as well as promotion of eco-friendly food products by the Jing-Si Books & Café, concepts of environmental vegetarianism and Earth’s sustainability were conveyed to the public. A visitor named Fahmi commented that Malays usually consume more meat and fewer vegetables in their diets. Now that he has learned how to save the Earth by adapting his eating habits, he will reduce meat consumption and encourage his colleagues to do the same for the sake of planet Earth.
