2021 • 03 38 Cash Relief for Pahang FloodVictims Since January 12, 2021, several low-lying areas in Kuching, Sarawak had been flooded. Tzu Chi volunteers were mobilized to 21 relief centres to offer care, and provide second-hand clothing, blankets, masks, food, drinking water and other necessities to the evacuees. As of January 30, the volunteers had presented 99 blessing packages to affected folks in Tondong, Siniawan, Kampung Buso and Taman Dayu. In Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, volunteers delivered hot meals, food and drinking water to 50 police officers at the affected police stations as well as those on roadblock duty. Volunteers at interior Paitan, Sandakan, deployed a truck and four-wheel drives for the distribution of eco-blankets, sarongs, mats, mattresses, solar powered lights, rice, cooking oil and other essential items to 22 families at two relief centres. The distribution took place on January 21 for over 100 flood-affected families in Cheroh and Kuala Krau. On January 24, after obtaining a permit, Kuantan volunteers headed to Sungai Lembing for four sessions of small- scale distribution. On January 30, Raub volunteers distributed cash relief to flood victims in Benta, while Mentakab and Temerloh volunteers conducted 17 sessions of small- scale distribution for more than 400 families over three days. A total of more than 1,000 affected families had received the cash aid as of February 2.
