21 Regardless of age and social status, recycling volunteers brave the dirt and humble themselves to collect recyclables, in an effort to protect the environment. As recycling centres and drop-off points were temporarily closed owing to the pandemic, the volunteers advocated vegetarianism by organizing online vegetarian cooking competitions and launching the Tasty Vege Facebook Group for the members (numbered over 12,000) to share their vegetarian recipes and ideas. They also encouraged the public to grow vegetables on vacant land, thereby learning to cherish food and mother nature.
