TZU CHI 129 39 Local News Delivering Festive Gift Packs to the Hindu Families Apart from the alarming increase of Covid-19 cases in Malaysia, dengue fever and chikungunya cases are also on the rise. Hence, pandemic prevention aside, it is necessary to prevent mosquito-borne diseases. Concerned that care recipients might neglect the care of their living environment, and that they might be cash strapped to purchase anti-mosquito products, Malacca Tzu Chi volunteers thoughtfully delivered mosquito repellent to each care recipient family during their monthly visit on the Charity Day. They also shared with the care recipients on how to maintain home hygiene and cleanliness of their living environment to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes. Each of the gift packs weighed over 15 kg and was filled with cookies, beverages, cooking oil, dried noodles, vermicelli, baking ingredients and many more items. The cocoa cookies were made by volunteers using Jing-Si cocoa powder, thus a healthier option. Correspondingly in Kota Tinggi, Johor, festive supplies were also delivered to 35 Indian care recipient families and beneficiaries of Tzu Chi Happy Schooling Scheme before the enforcement of CMCO. This outreach was done to ensure that the recipients would have enough supplies for the Deepavali celebration. During the volunteers’ visit, a student recipient, Sai Suthaarshana, handed her coin bank to them, in hope to help the needy with her donation.
