2020 • 10 42 Prayers in Repentance for Covid-19 The Hulu Langat District Health Office has presented certificates of appreciation to various government agencies and non-governmental organizations in acknowledgement of their efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic. Among them, Tzu Chi KL & Selangor was acknowledged for its pandemic response efforts, including assisting in cleaning the wards in the Sungai Buloh Leprosarium and producing face shields and other protective equipment for healthcare personnel. Sio Kee Hong, Deputy CEO of Tzu Chi KL & Selangor, received the certificate on behalf of the organization and accorded the recognition to all volunteers. Wong Kim Han, Selangor’s Deputy Director of Health, remarked, “Regardless of race or religion, the private or government sector, everyone teams up together to fight [Covid-19].” KL & Selangor 2020.09.18 Reported by Liew Wan Jin Photograph by Loh Hon Fui During the seventh month of the Lunar calendar, Tzu Chi volunteers invited members of their community to participate in the recitation of the Ksitigarbha Sutra . The Tzu Chi Kluang Liaison Office held three sessions of the fellowship- cum-Dharma service, with each session lasting three days, while adhering to the guidelines for religious events as dictated by the authorities. Hence, the event venue, which has a usual capacity of 150, only accommodated 60 attendees. Besides guiding the participants in striving for righteous beliefs and true faith, the volunteers also advised the participants to observe vegetarianism and shared Tzu Chi’s relief efforts during the MCO period.
