TZU CHI 126 39 Repaying the Community Local News Tzu Chi KL& Selangor has received over 4,000 applications for the “Kita1Keluarga” relief programme. Commencing August 1, volunteers conducted home visits and cared for the applicants. Before the home visits, volunteers attended a briefing to ensure they were clear with the procedures. During the home visits, volunteers listened attentively and patiently to the applicants’ stories, besides taking the opportunity to share about the origins of Tzu Chi and bamboo banks, and imparting to the applicants that no good deed is too small. During the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) period, volunteers also organized charity sale of vegetarian food in respective communities to solicit donations for the relief programme and promote vegetarianism. Two weeks later, they received a call from the principals of both schools, requesting them to collect the filled bamboo banks. Principal Mohd Hamdan bin Rahim of SK Taman Klang Jaya called on the teachers to support the good cause. “I’m thankful that you’ve given us a chance to do good by giving us these bamboo banks,” he said.
