The world of Tzu Chi August 2020 (Vol.125)

TZU CHI 125 35 On July 13, 2020, the Seremban Tzu Chi Liaison Office was notified of floods in Kampung Sungai Sendayan, two villages in Lukut, Kampung Bemban in Mambau, Taman Indah Jaya in Lukut, Tanah Merah Site A and Tanah Merah Site C. The volunteers responded swiftly by conducting an assessment of the impact of the floods, and completed the post-disaster assessment, victim registry and monetary aid distribution procedures within four days, providing relief to 53 affected households. A heavy downpour on July 18, 2020 caused severe flooding in several low-lying areas along the banks of the Kajang River, forcing residents to flee to safety. Rescue teams deployed boats to evacuate residents trapped in houses submerged in floodwaters five feet deep. The following day, local volunteers headed to Taman Pasir Emas, Taman Muhibbah, Jalan Reko, Sungai Chua and Kampung Jambu to assess the post-disaster situation, in addition to visiting the flood victims to compile a registry and understand their needs.
