15 TZU CHI 122 (Bottom) Tzu Chi volunteer Tan Sri Vincent Tan (far right) donated about 5,000 mattresses on Tzu Chi’s behalf to the Sungai Buloh Prison, bringing comfort and warmth to the inmates who have been sleeping on the floor due to the lack of bedding. Fellow volunteer Puan Sri Tong Siew Bee expressed her appreciation for the prison officers’ thoughtful gesture of seeking ways to improve living conditions for the inmates and hoped for the inmates to turn over a new leaf. The volunteers recorded the personal particulars of the beneficiaries for documentation purposes. She has been unemployed since the commencement of the MCO and could only afford to feed her children sugared syrup after the family’s supply of provisions was depleted.
