09 Watch the video at: O n March 20, 66 volunteers convened at the former site of the National Leprosy Control Centre in Sungai Buloh with cleaning equipment in hand, ready to give 11 wards a thorough cleaning. A video clip documenting this cleanup initiative, which was posted on Tzu Chi Malaysia’s social media platforms, garnered 680,000 views and a stream of well wishes from the public, besides attracting the attention of various media outlets, who reported on the event. Some who had watched the video even expressed interest in registering as volunteers – a testament to the power of kindness in uniting the masses. The Sungai Buloh Hospital, which has been designated as the main centre dedicated to handling Covid-19 cases, required assistance to clean and prepare additional wards in order to accommodate an influx of patients warranting quarantine. “My staff would understand that they’re getting support not only from the hospital and the Ministry of Health, but also from the community and NGOs, who come together to help in this fight against Covid-19,” remarked Dr. Kuldip Kaur a/p Prem Singh, the director of Sungai Buloh Hospital.
