The world of Tzu Chi January 2020 (Vol.118)

TZU CHI 118 21 I n 2019, Tzu Chi Kota Kinabalu conferred financial assistance through the Study and Awards Scheme to 98 children from the households of care recipients. Among the beneficiaries of the Scheme, indigenous students occupied the largest share at 39 percent, followed by students of Malay, Chinese and Indian ethnicities at 37 percent, 22 percent and 2 percent respectively. For many years, extending care and concern to students in rural areas has been a part of Tzu Chi’s continuous efforts to empower individuals and households in need through education, benefitting countless students who have gone on to contribute to society, including past beneficiary Muhd Razman bin Sirun. Razman graduated from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Tanjung Malim, Perak in 2010 and achieved his childhood ambition of becoming a teacher, driven by his passion for the teaching profession.
