Dental and surgical services, as well as medical consultations in the fields of internal medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine, were provided at the Battambang Referral Hospital for three consecutive days commencing November 1, 2019. On November 2, a team of medical personnel from Tzu Chi jointly organized a medical outreach session with the Samdech Techo Volunteer Youth Doctor Association (TYDA) at a local high school in the Aek Phnum District, while another session specializing in ophthalmology was conducted at the Ophthalmology Department of Battambang Hospital on November 1 and 2, during which 33 patients received eye surgery. On November 1, sacks of rice were distributed to 600 households in the northwestern Cambodian city of Poipet. More than 1,000 attendees gathered at the ceremony to commemorate the development of Tzu Chi’s education blueprint over the past three decades and its impact on Taiwanese society and beyond, including teachers, students and alumni of the Tzu Chi University of Science and Technology, Tzu Chi University, Tzu Chi Senior High School (affiliated with Tzu Chi University) and Tainan Tzu Chi Senior High School, as well as senior supervisors and staff members serving the organization’s core missions. Notably, Tzu Chi University has secured the 67th place in the Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings, while ranking 10th in Asia and 1st in Taiwan on the same scale.
