A total of 164 TIMA members and volunteers from Sarawak, KL & Selangor, Penang, Johor, Kedah and Sabah travelled to the rural villages with the assistance of the Bintulu 4x4 Club, whose members deployed 71 4WD vehicles to transport the TIMAmembers and volunteers to seven longhouses across Ulu Baram. In addition to health screenings and dental services, medical consultations in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western medicine were conducted for the benefit of the villagers. Tzu Chi Tawau followed up with a two-day free clinic starting November 9 at SK Kampung Titingan that provided tuberculosis screenings alongside consultation sessions in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Western medicine, dentistry, gynaecology, paediatrics and family planning. House call services were also offered to patients with mobility concerns. An inauguration ceremony was held on November 9, 2019 to mark the occasion in the presence of 184 volunteers from Tzu Chi KL& Selangor and 20 Taiwan-based volunteers serving the education mission who have been taskedwith extending support to theAssociation. The Yi Te Parents Association is a distinctive feature in Tzu Chi’s educational institutions, founded with the aim of providing pastoral care to students by connecting them to “shadow parents” who attend to the students’ emotional needs and lend them a listening ear, besides mentoring the students in social etiquette and imparting moral values.
