Indonesia 2019.08.18 Maintaining Hygiene Behind Bars Epworth in Zimbabwe is a densely-populated rural area located 14 km away from the city of Harare. A majority of its 30,000-odd inhabitants live in flimsy huts with poor sanitation. Tzu Chi volunteers provided assistance in the form of water purification agents. During winter, wells are the only source of water for the locals, owing to low rainfall and various other factors. After due assessment, the volunteers began repair works on two communal wells in the area from July 4, 2019 onwards. They also replaced the drainage and piping systems to provide residents with a clean supply of water that is safe for consumption and to minimize the onset of diseases.
