TZU CHI 115 35 Local News The Malacca State Government is striving to join forces with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to educate the wider public on environmental conservation, in addition to implementingwaste classification regulations in night markets, establishing a recycling station onKeeAnn Food Street and introducing recycling guidelines to heighten awareness on environmental conservation. On September 6, 2019, the Malacca State Government installed a recycling station provided by SWCorp on Kee Ann Food Street, with the aim of encouraging waste classification and recycling in order to reduce wastage. Meanwhile, the Lions Club of Tanjung Bidara collaborated with Tzu Chi on an awareness campaign by SWCorp to promote environmental conservation. Malacca 2019.09.06 Reported & photograph by Yong Siew Lee YBAM Puzhao Buddhist Vihara, located approximately 13 km from Kluang, Johor, is the Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia’s (YBAM) largest training and cultivation centre in the southern region of Peninsular Malaysia. It sustained severe damage to its structure from a heavy storm that struck at about 5 p.m. on August 26, 2019. In the wake of the storm, the YBAM committee issued a call for volunteers through the press and social media to assist in the post-disaster clean-up. Volunteers from Tzu Chi Kluang promptly arrived at the scene to offer consolation and an emergency relief fund of RM5,000. On August 30, 27 volunteers gathered at the premises to restore cleanliness and order, dividing the cleaning tasks accordingly among themselves.
