The World Of Tzu Chi(Vol.114).
02 2019 • 09 reporter from Da Ai TV that he learnt that Tzu Chi always makes sure to provide high- quality furniture for the benefit of the residents. To verify what the reporter had said, he examined the washbasins and true enough, they all came from a reputable brand. It moved him to feel the sincerity of Tzu Chi people and to feel respected despite being on the receiving end of assistance. We recall major disasters that struck the world these few decades not because they are fond memories that we cherish. In fact, we do not wish them to happen again. But during such times of need, Tzu Chi people had gone all out to relieve the pain of the suffering regardless of the daunting challenges they faced. They had benefitted communities with their enlightened love. Thus, as we recall these past events, let us also awaken the sense of compassion and altruism in us, and continue to inspire everyone to exercise love and kindness, to create blessings for the world. Blessings do not come from praying to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Only through acts of kindness in serving others can we receive blessings. To achieve a peaceful and harmonious society, everyone has a role to play. Families that do good will be blessed with abundant blessings. This will also give them the capacity to help others, and in so doing, add meaning and purpose to their lives. The more I think of the past, the more I treasure the present; the more I think of the present, the more urgent I should work harder. The passage of time has taken away my youth, then my middle age, and now almost my old age. The saying “the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak” clearly describes my present situation. Sometimes, it is even difficult for me to find the strength to speak. Nevertheless, as long as I can still use my aching body to benefit humanity, I will not remain idle. During my tour, many of my followers approached me to make a solemn vow. They said, “Master, I’ll carry out Tzu Chi’s missions until I breathe my last.” I was young when I started Tzu Chi’s work more than 50 years ago. Ageing and death are natural phases in life. But one who sows blessings in this lifetime will always feel at ease and certain. Wherever I will be born in my future lifetime, I will carry on with my aspiration to relieve all living beings from suffering. For those who cherish the karmic bonds between us, I am sure to find them back in my next life so that they will continue to walk on the Bodhisattva Path life after life. I will seize every second of my life as there are still many things that I want to do. Make the most out of our lives by cultivating ourselves diligently and nurturing our wisdom, for only with wisdom can we have control over ourselves and make the right decision for our future. aster’s Teaching * Compiled from a collection of speeches delivered by Master Cheng Yen from July 1 to July 16, 2019.
