At nightfall, Tzu Chi volunteers arrived at the scene to assess the aftermath of the fire and departed for the evacuation centre where the victims sought temporary shelter. Besides extending concern and compiling records of the victims, the volunteers distributed cash relief to the affected households. Upon learning that one of the victims, Shabana binti Wahid, was due for delivery ten days later, the volunteers assured her that they will arrange for her family to receive assistance following due evaluation of the operation and hospitalization costs.
