TZU CHI 113 47 Global News At midnight on June 25, 2019, a fire engulfed the village of Panipahan, situated in the town of Pasir Limau Kapas, Rokan Hilir District of Riau Province, destroying 21 houses and causing severe damage to 8 others. Fortunately, there were no casualties. On the 27th, seven volunteers from Medan, Tebing Tinggi and Kisaran departed for Panipahan – located approximately 400 km from Medan – to conduct disaster relief efforts. Upon arrival, the volunteers surveyed the site of the fire incident, consoled the fire victims and distributed cash aid to help them rebuild their lives. Jin-tian excelled in her studies as a student of National Taitung University Affiliated Physical Education Senior High School. The key figure behind her success was the late volunteer Yu Hui-hsiung, who is one of the featured personalities in the documentary. The Taitung-based personalities highlighted in “Walking Dharma” were presented with a collage portrait at the premiere in Taipei, where they extended an invitation to all present to bear witness to their stories when the film is released in theatres.
