The World Of Tzu Chi(Vol.113)

TZU CHI 113 21 Yaw Dong, who serves as the Support Group’s counsellor, would visit the family out of concern. On September 29, 2015, Chong Chee breathed his last at the dinner table due to organ failure, surrounded by his wife and children. Chong Chee’s passing came as a wake-up call to Bee Leng to waste no time in treasuring her loved ones. “In the many years since he left us, it wasn’t until I fell ill that I realized I’ve always been putting others before myself instead of paying attention to my own well- being. It dawned upon me that I would only be prepared to lift others up when I’m in fighting form,” affirmed Bee Leng. She has recently transitioned from being a full-time piano tutor to offering piano lessons on a part-time basis as she intends to devote more quality time to her children, who are in their formative years. Bee Leng is now taking life in her stride, buoyed by the humanitarian spirit of the volunteers. “As family members of a cancer patient, we value companionship the most in supporting Chong Chee through his battle against cancer. It comforts us to know that someone is standing by us through the ordeal. We found solace in the company of the volunteers, especially Mun Jen, who set us at ease with her very presence,” she related fondly. On March 17, 2015, support team volunteers, Leong Chian Yee, Kuan Mun Jen and Dr Chan Kim Hong held a birthday celebration for Lim Chong Chee before he was due for an operation.
