The world of Tzu Chi (Vol.111)

Stationery for Children in SouthAfrica In the aftermath of Cyclone Idai, which landed in Mozambique in March 2019 and destroyed more than 100 schools in Nhamatanda district, the children have been studying in harsh conditions. The scene of some children drawing with their extremely short pencils prompted a ripple of kindness across the globe. Two months following the disaster, the local Tzu Chi volunteers presented brand new school bags and stationery to the children thanks to donations from kind souls. The medical team from Taiwan also delivered 6,000 pencils and 1,000 sharpeners to Mozambique besides medical services. Next, Tzu Chi will conduct assessments on the construction of school buildings to give the students a conducive learning environment, which will hopefully lead them to a brighter future. Tzu Chi volunteers in Africa presented to each elementary and secondary school student a school bag and a stationery set. Pictured here are happy children with the school supplies they received.
