TZU CHI 111 41 Global News Dharma Masters from more than 20 countries and participants of a youth camp organized by the International Network of Engaged Buddhists visited Tzu Chi Shuangho Recycling Education Centre in New Taipei City. The 40-member group, led by Master Yuan Mao from the Buddhist Hongshi College, gained a first-hand glimpse into the steps involved in recycling processes by engaging in recycling work facilitated by the participating volunteers. In conjunction with Mother’s Day, the volunteers presented several female members of the group with imitation carnations crafted from plastic bags that exemplify the advantages of utilizing reusable resources to their fullest. Taiwan 2019.05.11 A Visit to Shuangho Recycling Education Centre Persistent downpours throughout April 26 and 27, 2019 resulted in rising river levels in Bengkulu Province, Indonesia and caused severe flooding that claimed 29 lives, with 13 others reported missing and a casualty count of 12,000. Volunteers gathered the necessary disaster relief supplies and enlisted the help of the local land army to deliver them to the designated venue for distribution to the flood victims. The victims and government officers thanked the volunteers for braving the 32-hour trip in their mission to provide relief. They were also moved by the volunteers’ determination to reach out to the flood victims that even the long, arduous journey ceased to dampen their spirits.
