TZU CHI 111 27 Spreading the spirit of the Buddha’s compassion It is an annual affair for Tzu Chi volunteers to invite everyone to participate in the Buddha Bathing Ceremony.Yet, some are hindered from personally attending the ceremony due to illness, disability or other reasons. Hence, volunteers have initiated mobile Buddha bathing ceremonies in their communities, bringing the ceremonial setup into the homes of care recipients, as well as public spaces such as wet markets and commercial areas, allowing everyone to bask in spiritual joy and positive vibes. A modest yet dignified Buddha bathing platform was installed at the Sri Petaling wet market to make the Buddha bathing ritual more accessible to the local community. Setapak-based volunteer Chua Weng Ing welcomed the arrival of her newborn bundle of joy with the blessings of fellow volunteers, who conducted a Buddha bathing ceremony at the hospital for both mother and child.
