Seremban 2019.03.19 – 03.20 Reported and photograph by Lee Heng Lun Since 1999, Tzu Chi Kedah volunteers have been organizing free clinics for underprivileged villagers from the remote village of Pedu, besides supplying them with sacha inchi seedlings, which are known for their Omega-3-rich properties and high nutritional value. The volunteers had hoped that the low-maintenance plants would empower the villagers to sow, harvest and market their own sacha inchi crops as a source of income. Beyond that, the innovative villagers had even ventured to capitalize on the health benefits of the sacha inchi seeds by distilling them into health supplements. The volunteers’ ongoing concern for the villagers’ welfare has never wavered, a testament to their dedication to improving the villagers’ lives.
