2019 • 03 34 Tzu Chi KL & Selangor jointly organized a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) free clinic for Tzu Chi volunteers with Tung Shin Hospital under the auspices of the Chairman of the Chinese Medical Management Committee of Tung Shin Hospital, Yong Seng Yeow, who is also a Tzu Chi volunteer. Sixteen TCM practitioners from Tung Shin Hospital were on duty at the free clinic to provide medical services in internal medicine, acupuncture, and orthopaedics, benefitting more than 500 volunteers and care recipients. The Deputy Superintendent of Tung Shin Hospital Chinese Medical Division, Huang Ching Hui expressed her hope for Tzu Chi and the Hospital to work together towards mutual learning and knowledge exchange to benefit more patients, as both parties share a common goal of committing to charitable causes. As the men in the village were out working at the time of the incident, the elderly and the women only managed to escape with some important documents as the fire razed their houses. The following day, Tzu Chi volunteers arrived at the scene to assess the damage and provide care to the victims. On January 18, cash relief was distributed to 77 households, totalling 381 beneficiaries. One of the victims, Surianti Suna, who sells pastries for a living, was grateful for Tzu Chi’s timely relief, which had enabled her to buy the ingredients and equipment required for making pastries.
