The momentous occasion was made even more memorable by the presence of Master De Rang, Master De Ge, Master De Yuan, and Master De Tai from the Jing Si Abode; Lin Pi-yu, Vice President of Tzu Chi Foundation; David Liu, Deputy CEO of Tzu Chi Charity Foundation; and CEOs of various Tzu Chi Chapters. Reflecting on the construction of the Jing Si Hall, with the commencement of fundraising in 2015 and groundbreaking in 2017, volunteers had faced significant challenges at every step of the way. However, their pure and courageous hearts propelled them forward. Choking back tears, volunteer Lou Geok Jin shared, “Regardless of the hardships, it was all worthwhile. ” The Jing Si Hall was built brick by brick with the support, love, and blessings of individuals from all walks of life. Among them, entrepreneur Yeo Koon Lian selflessly donated 3.1 acres of land for the construction. He also actively assisted in fundraising efforts after the groundbreaking ceremony. He emphasised, “No matter how big or small the donation is, it is the intention to do good and benefit others that counts.” Even Grandma Tey Kim, then around 80 years old, contributed both money and effort. She rode her motorcycle around to raise funds, and jointly donated RM10,000 with her late husband during the first large-scale fundraising charity sale, which coincided with her birthday. In subsequent years, she celebrated by attending fundraising dinners with her family. Soh Swee Choo, person-in-charge of Tzu Chi Muar, expressed gratitude to the united volunteer team, who turned the Jing Si Hall into a reality. She hopes that the Jing Si Hall will fulfil its role as a place where selfless love and kindness flourish, bringing together greater love and strength to create a harmonious community.
