The World Of Tzu Chi March 2024 (Vol.149)

TZU CHI 149 33 Life is full of treasures. Embodying the ethos that discarded items can be repurposed, Tzu Chi volunteers in Kuching dedicated over 1,500 hours to craft an 18.88-metre-long Eco-Dragon from 2,271 plastic bottles, 415 aluminium cans, 2,000 CDs, and 2 recycled appliances. This creative creation was listed in the Malaysia Book of Records, and displayed near the iconic Great White Cat Statue. While conveying Chinese New Year greetings to the public, the Eco- Dragon also championed environmental consciousness, serving as a vibrant reminder to re-examine the potential value of waste and collectively contribute to Earth’s sustainability. From December 23 to 31, 2023, Tzu Chi Muar hosted six sessions of Year-End Blessing Ceremony at Tzu-Chi Jing Si Hall in Muar, and Chaah, Segamat. The ceremonies saw participation from a total of 3,536 attendees, comprised of volunteers and public members. Hosting the event for the first time at the newly completed Jing Si Hall, the volunteers’ faces beamed with joy. Several Dharma Masters also graced the event, leading attendees in prayers for global peace. In addition to witnessing the humanitarian endeavours in the past year, everyone cherished the red envelopes of blessings and wisdom from Master Cheng Yen – a testament to the enduring legacy and Great Love of Tzu Chi.
