This made volunteer See Kok Cha realized how easy it is to bring happiness to people who are suffering. By Tan Kim Hion Translated by Michelle Lim Photo by Ho Wing Hong ovid-19 Relief O n August 31, 2021, volunteers See Kok Cha and Ooi Sok Bee took the advantage of the Malaysia National Day holiday, to deliver cash vouchers to Shamjedah, a beneficiary of the Food Care project for refugees. After listening to Kok Cha's explanation of the cash voucher usage, a haggard looking Shamjedah immediately rushed off to a mini- market nearby to get her supplies. Upon seeing that, the concerned volunteers followed her. Upon reaching the mini-market, Shamjedah picked up a ten-kilogramme white rice pack, and tears gushed from the corner of her eyes. She said, “I have not bought such a big pack of rice for a long time.” Then, she picked up another pack. They were the cheapest white rice among the selection. After that, she took a large pack of onions, a bottle of cooking oil and instant noodles. Shamjedah came from Myanmar to Upon receiving the cash vouchers, Shamjedah went straight to the mini-market to buy food supplies. She was moved to tears to have adequate supplies once again.
