The world of Tzu Chi September-October 2021 (Vol.137)
TZU CHI 137 07 vaccinees commended the smooth flow, friendly service and a venue that was well ventilated, bright and spacious. Credit should also go to the general affairs team, who were responsible for logistics and arrangement of furniture, besides chipping in to help with dishwashing too. A careline and call centre was also set up to remind vaccinees to confirm their appointments on the MySejahtera mobile app while responding to phone enquiries. The on- site command centre, on the other hand, had volunteers on standby to support whichever station that needed additional assistance, such as aiding walk-in vaccinees. “I feel fortunate and at ease to have been assigned to Jing Si Hall for vaccination.” “I am aware that Tzu Chi has been carrying out a lot of charitable work to help people in need. Knowing that all of you have braved the risks to serve, I am very thankful!” “I do not know how to express my appreciation for your warmth and cordial service. Each slice of cake here represents my gratitude towards Tzu Chi,” Malay vaccinee Shafiq said, as he returned to the Jing Si Hall with a cake after obtaining his second dose of vaccine. The masks and face shields had no doubt made it difficult to observe any facial expression. However, this could not hide the sincerity and kindness radiated from the hearts of many. Everyone who came to the Jing Si Hall could feel the positive vibes. Goh Mea Seng, one of the chief coordinators, was happy and grateful to note that all the volunteers had given their best to cope with unprecedented incidences, enabling the vaccinees to have a pleasant experience and return home safely. He said, “The Jing Si Hall is brimming of warmth thanks to the positive energy of every volunteer. Although the rising Covid-19 cases is a source of worry, people are calm and filled with positivity when they are here. We hope this positive energy will spread to the communities to overcome the negative energy and ward off the pandemic.” For over two months, the vaccination centre operated every day of the week. By the end of its service on August 22, a total of 38,463 vaccine doses had been administered, bringing us a step closer towards herd immunity. * As the vaccination rates sped up in KL and Selangor regions, the Jing Si Hall vaccination centre concluded its services earlier on August 22, instead of the mid-September deadline as originally scheduled.
